Sukhbir Singh Badal, president of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), distributed 1,000 quintals of wheat to 300 farmers and farm workers who suffered crop damage due to a hailstorm in April in Bhalaiana and Kotli villages of Gidderbaha constituency. Each family received four quintals of wheat.

The SAD president claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government had failed to provide compensation for the destruction of paddy crops due to floods in 2025, and also did not assist farmers during the hailstorm.

Sukhbir Singh Badal said that the SAD would hold protests across the state on September 16 to demand adequate power supply to farmers, who are facing prolonged power cuts threatening their paddy crop. He promised to spend huge funds in Gidderbaha upon gaining power in 2027.
