Summer Heat Sparks Rise in Forward Natural Gas Prices
Resilient summer heat is driving up forward natural gas prices as the country experiences record power burn and forecasts call for more hot weather.
The trading volume has ticked higher in some parts of the country, particularly in regions where heat pulls on Rockies and Permian production. In contrast, the Northwest has seen gains due to lower temperatures.
PG&E Citygate was the biggest mover among natural gas prices, while heat-driven demand pulled on production in the Rockies and Permian Basin.
