Tanker Explodes in Strait of Hormuz Amid Iran-US Dispute
An oil tanker has exploded in the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The tanker El Gaia was traveling along the southern route through the strait when it struck a sea mine, causing an explosion that engulfed the entire vessel.
The IRGC claimed that the mines were planted by Iran in the area. However, the US military disputed this account, stating that the tanker was actually struck by an Iranian missile last month and rendered inoperable.
