Tanzania Governor Briefs IMF on Economic Growth Measures
The Governor of Tanzania's central bank, Emmanuel Tutuba, met with the new Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Tanzania, Jana Bricco. During their meeting at the Bank of Tanzania headquarters in Dodoma, Tutuba briefed Bricco on the measures being implemented to strengthen Tanzania's economic growth and resilience.
The Governor emphasized maintaining the stability of the Tanzanian shilling, increasing foreign exchange reserves through the gold purchase program, and expanding access to inclusive financial services. This comes after Tanzania completed two IMF programs: the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) and the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF).
Tanzania accessed a total of $443.9 million through these programs, which aim to provide concessional financing for economic strengthening and support efforts to address climate change effects.
