Tanzania Unveils Plans for Cross-Border Natural Gas Pipeline

Tanzania has announced plans to supply natural gas to Uganda and Kenya through a cross-border pipeline, aiming to expand access to clean energy and deepen East African cooperation. The project is part of Tanzania's strategy to strengthen investment in the oil and gas sector and position itself as a key supplier of clean energy to neighboring states.

The planned pipeline will enhance regional integration, boost energy security, and promote the wider use of natural gas, according to Engineer Charles Sangweni, Director General of the Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority (PURA). He stressed that empowering youth is critical to unlocking Africa's energy potential, as they are both the current and future workforce driving economic growth through responsible development of petroleum resources.

The announcement was made during the Second African Youth in Oil and Gas International Conference in Unguja, Zanzibar. The conference brings together oil and gas stakeholders from across Africa to discuss investment opportunities, clean energy development, and strategies for increasing youth participation in the sector.
