Tanzania's $42bn LNG Project Draws Interest from Foreign Investors
A proposed $42bn liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Tanzania drew interest from foreign investors at a recent forum in the UK. The investors sought updates on the project's pace, with Finance Minister Khamis Mussa Omar reassuring them that negotiations had made significant progress.
The minister explained that remaining issues were being sorted out among commercial partners and that the government was prepared to move forward once they completed their internal arrangements.
Investors also expressed interest in Tanzania's infrastructure development plans, particularly the 2,000-kilometre standard gauge railway (SGR) network expected to be mostly completed by late 2030. The SGR is set to strengthen Tanzania's role as a major trade and transport hub in East Africa.
