Technip Energies Wins FEED Contract for Malaysian LNG Regasification Terminal
Technip Energies has secured a front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for the offshore regasification terminal (RGT) Yan project in Kedah, northwest Malaysia. The project is being jointly developed by Gas Malaysia, Tokyo Gas Asia, and VTTI, with an estimated cost of RM2 billion, RM3 billion ($490 million-$735 million).
The RGT Yan project will introduce a new LNG entry point in the northern region of Peninsular Malaysia, supporting growing industrial and power demand. Technip Energies' scope of work includes evaluating best regasification terminal configurations before completing the full FEED for the selected solution.
The offshore terminal will have a capacity of 6 million tons per annum (mtpa) and comprise an offshore floating LNG storage and regasification unit, marine infrastructure, a subsea gas pipeline, and an onshore receiving facility. The latest FEED award comes just three months after Technip Energies received full notice to proceed with an engineering, procurement, and construction contract for the Commonwealth LNG export facility in Louisiana.
Gas Malaysia signed a joint development agreement (JDA) with Tokyo Gas and VTTI in May 2026. The project was cleared to advance into further implementation work after receiving a letter to proceed from Malaysia's Energy Commission in March 2026.
