Technip Energies Wins FEED Contract for Offshore LNG Regasification Terminal in Northwest Malaysia
Technip Energies has secured a front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract for the Regasification Terminal Yan project in Kedah, northwest Malaysia. The terminal will have a planned capacity of 6 million metric tons per year, making it a significant addition to the region's LNG infrastructure.
The project is a joint development between Gas Malaysia, Tokyo Gas Asia, and VTTI, with each partner bringing their expertise to the table. Technip Energies will lead the FEED work, which includes evaluating the best possible configurations for the regasification terminal, establishing the technical basis, and supporting the project toward a final investment decision.
The Regasification Terminal Yan will be built around an FSRU, paired with marine facilities, a subsea pipeline, and an onshore receiving facility. This configuration allows for flexibility in accommodating large LNG carrier vessels without the constraints of shallow or confined port environments.
