Teck Resources' Copper Surge Lifts Earnings Amid Merger Uncertainty

Teck Resources (TSX:TECK.B) has seen its stock price rise by 7.3% after announcing record-breaking Q2 earnings, driven largely by copper prices that have increased significantly.

The company's sales rose to C$3,605 million and net income reached C$854 million in the quarter, a substantial improvement from the same period last year.

This surge in earnings is primarily attributed to record copper production, which was up by roughly 25% compared to the previous year. Additionally, Teck Resources reported record adjusted EBITDA margins and maintained its dividend of C$0.125 per share.

The company's financial position has been strengthened by this quarter's results, but it does not eliminate risks such as permitting, operational, or price volatility associated with copper production and the planned merger with Anglo American.
