Teck Resources Surges on Copper Boom and Merging Plans
Teck Resources Limited (TSX: TECK.A and TECK.B, NYSE: TECK) announced its unaudited second quarter results for 2026 on July 22, 2026. The company reported strong operational and financial performance, with adjusted EBITDA of $2.2 billion in Q2 2026, a 204% increase from the same period last year.
The increase was driven by higher copper production and commodity prices, as well as increased revenue from by-products. Teck's copper segment generated gross profit before depreciation and amortization of $1.8 billion in Q2 2026, compared to $673 million in the same period last year.
Teck's President and CEO, Jonathan Price, stated that the company 'delivered another quarter of strong operational and financial performance.' He added that Teck is well-positioned to advance its planned merger with Anglo American to create a global critical minerals champion.
