Tehran Prepares for Economic Battle with US
Tehran officials are warning of the need to plan for and overcome what they call 'unjust' US sanctions, which have crippled Iran's economy. The Trump administration has vowed to aggressively tighten its pressure campaign against Iran, with President Donald Trump promising an 'economic D-Day.'
The US has already imposed debilitating sanctions on Iran's economy and leadership, and Washington is now preparing measures to target countries that buy Iranian oil. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent wrote on social media Thursday evening, 'Any remaining tie to Tehran will hasten a nation's economic oblivion.'
Iranian officials believe the US has shifted its strategy from military confrontation to economic warfare. Ghalibaf told business representatives in Baghdad that the Americans and Israelis have realized they cannot prevail against Iran and Iraq in conventional military warfare, so they are using cognitive and economic warfare instead.
