Tennessee Gas Prices Fall 11 Cents Amid Crude Oil Price Drop

Tennessee gas prices have finally started to drop, with an average decrease of 11 cents per gallon over the past week. According to AAA, this brings the state's average price for regular gasoline down to $3.55 per gallon. While this is still higher than a year ago, it does provide some relief for motorists.

The decline in gas prices can be attributed to lower crude oil prices, which have fallen into the $70-per-barrel range amid optimism that the Strait of Hormuz will resume normal operations. Megan Cooper, spokeswoman for AAA, The Auto Club Group, noted that 'Lower crude oil prices continue to provide relief for Tennessee drivers by helping to push pump prices lower across the state.' However, she also warned that volatility in the global oil market remains a factor and could place upward pressure on fuel costs.

Interestingly, gas prices typically begin declining around this time of year as schools and universities start their fall semesters, reducing road trips. Last week's data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration showed a slight decrease in gasoline demand and total domestic supplies.
