Tensions Ease as Stocks Drift and Oil Prices Plummet

Stocks on Wall Street ended Monday in a mixed bag after a volatile trading session. The US and Iran paused their attacks, leading to reduced tensions in the Middle East.

The S&P 500 index rose less than 0.1%, but still managed to close higher for the day. The Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 0.5% while the Nasdaq composite fell 0.2%

Oil prices dropped significantly, with Brent crude plummeting 6.3% to $85.87 a barrel and US crude falling 7.5% to $82.61 a barrel.

The decline in oil prices can be attributed to the reduced tensions between the US and Iran, which had caused concerns about global oil supplies last week.
