Tensions Persist as Saudi Arabia and Jordan Intercept Drones
Saudi Arabia and Jordan have intercepted drones targeting their territory, highlighting ongoing regional threats despite a temporary pause in hostilities between Iran and the US. According to Saudi officials, several drones were intercepted and destroyed before reaching their targets, which included oil facilities in the Eastern Province and Riyadh.
The Ministry of Defence accused Iranian-backed militias of carrying out the attacks, describing them as 'terrorist' attempts to target Saudi energy infrastructure. Maj Gen Turki Al Malki stated that the drones originated from Iraqi territory and that Saudi Arabia reserves the right to defend itself and respond at an appropriate time.
Meanwhile, Jordan's Royal Air Force shot down two drones targeting the kingdom, with no casualties or damage reported. The incidents occurred as Iran and the US refrained from attacking each other for a third consecutive night, with Washington giving diplomacy 'some space' according to US Ambassador Mike Waltz.
