Tether Adds 14 Tonnes of Gold, Becomes Largest Private Holder

Tether has significantly expanded its gold holdings in the second quarter of 2026, purchasing an additional 14 tonnes. This brings the company's total gold reserves to 146 tonnes, valued at approximately $18.8 billion.

This substantial increase in gold holdings makes Tether one of the largest private holders of gold outside of government entities and central banks.

The acquisition is part of a strategic decision to diversify and strengthen its reserve assets, with gold now representing about 10% of its $187.8 billion reserves.
