Tether has made significant additions to its gold reserves in Q2 2026, increasing its holdings by 14 metric tonnes. The company's total bullion reserves now stand at over 146 tonnes, valued at approximately $18.8 billion.

This purchase reflects gold's growing importance within Tether's reserve portfolio, which also includes substantial holdings of US Treasuries and Bitcoin. According to the company's latest quarterly reserve attestation, U.S. Treasury securities remain its largest reserve asset at around $115 billion.

Tether has steadily expanded its allocation to physical gold, with this latest purchase lifting its bullion holdings above 146 tonnes. This makes Tether one of the world's largest private-sector holders of physical gold outside central banks and major exchange-traded funds.

As Ardoino previously stated, the company intends to maintain a meaningful allocation to bullion as part of its reserve strategy. He mentioned that for their own portfolio, it is reasonable to have around 10% in Bitcoin and 10-15% in gold.
