Texas Gas Prices Skyrocket Amid Crude Oil Surge
The statewide gas price average in Texas has increased to $3.83 per gallon of regular unleaded fuel, according to AAA Texas.
This is a 14-cent hike from last week's prices and a $1.07 jump compared to the same day last year.
El Paso drivers are paying the highest average price at $4.22 per gallon, while Houston drivers are seeing the lowest average at $3.69 per gallon.
The national gas price average is $4.27, a 13-cent increase from last week and a $1.08 rise compared to the same day last year.
Crude oil prices have returned above $100 per barrel for the first time since July, putting additional pressure on gasoline prices as summer travel demand declines.
