Texas Gas Prices Soar as Crude Oil Hits Record High
Crude oil prices have surged to the $90-per-barrel range due to escalating attacks on ships through the Strait of Hormus, Iran, and other Middle Eastern countries. This increase has pushed up gas prices across Texas, with the average price for regular unleaded fuel rising by 16 cents from last week to $3.71 per gallon.
The highest average gas prices can be found in El Paso, where drivers are paying $3.96 per gallon, while those in the Tyler area are getting off cheapest at $3.57 per gallon. Amarillo drivers are currently paying an average of $3.63 per gallon, which is 15 cents more than last week and $1.00 more compared to the same day last year.
AAA Texas officials noted that oil prices have become volatile due to the situation in the Middle East, and motorists should expect fluctuating gas prices. Daniel Armbruster, spokesperson for AAA Texas, advised drivers to take advantage of tools that help them compare fuel prices and budget for upcoming trips.
