Average gasoline prices in Texas have surged by 11.3 cents per gallon over the last week, according to GasBuddy's survey of over 13,000 stations in the state.

The current average price is $3.62 per gallon, which is 5.7 cents higher than a month ago and 89.3 cents more than a year ago.

GasBuddy's Patrick De Haan explained that rebounding oil prices are driving up gas prices, with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and ongoing Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries contributing to the increase.

The national average price of gasoline has also risen, increasing by 7.7 cents per gallon over the last week to $4.02 per gallon.
