Thailand's domestic gold price experienced significant fluctuations on August 18, 2026. It opened with a notable gain of 200 baht from the previous day's close, reaching a high of 69,700 baht for gold jewelry and 68,900 baht for gold bars.

However, profit-taking sell pressure soon took hold, resulting in a total of 12 price adjustments throughout the session. Despite this volatility, the market ultimately closed with a net gain of just 50 baht, with gold bars selling at 68,750 baht and gold jewelry at 69,550 baht.

Global gold spot prices played a key role in supporting domestic prices, standing at $4,403 per ounce. Analysts remain optimistic about the outlook for gold prices in Thailand, predicting they could reach 80,000 baht per baht-weight in the near term due to sustained strong demand for safe-haven assets.
