Thai Gold Prices Surge 400 Baht Amid Global Market Volatility
Thailand's domestic gold price rose significantly on Friday, August 28, 2026, closing at 71,750 baht per baht-weight for 96.5% gold bars and 72,550 baht per baht-weight for 96.5% gold ornaments, according to the Gold Traders Association.
The price increase of 400 baht from the previous day's close was announced 20 times throughout the trading session, with prices accelerating towards the close after a modest 50-baht gain in the morning.
Global gold spot prices stood at $4,580 per ounce, providing underlying support for domestic gold prices. The rally followed a decline of 350 baht on August 27 amid heightened market volatility.
