Thai Oil Supplies Secure Amid Middle East Tensions
Thailand's energy ministry has been closely monitoring its crude supply chain since unrest in the Middle East began, according to Veerapat Kiatfuengfoo, deputy permanent secretary for energy. The country has diversified its imports by increasing shipments from countries like the United States and Argentina.
The combined amount of available stocks and scheduled supplies is sufficient to meet national demand for 108 days. This includes 2.353 billion litres of commercial reserves, 3.385 billion litres of statutory reserves, 4.299 billion litres of crude oil in transit, and 3.280 billion litres of confirmed supplies awaiting shipment.
As global oil prices continue to rise due to economic and geopolitical factors, the Thai government is taking steps to ensure a stable supply chain. Relevant agencies have been instructed to maintain readiness and manage stocks carefully to prevent shortages for households and businesses.
