Thailand Secures Oil Supply Amid Middle East Conflict
The Thai government has taken proactive steps to ensure a stable supply of crude oil to its domestic refineries, despite the ongoing Middle East conflict. According to the Department of Energy Business (DOEB), Thailand will not experience a crude oil shortage this August due to the country's strategic decision to purchase crude oil from the United States.
The DOEB has confirmed that all six domestic refineries have sufficient supply, thanks in part to the reduction in Middle East oil imports from 58% to just 30%. This shift towards US crude oil imports not only ensures a stable national fuel supply but also reduces the reliance on global shipping lanes.
DOEB Director-General Sarawut Kaewtathip emphasized that important global shipping routes remain open, allowing essential crude oil to reach Thailand without major delays. The continued access to these routes ensures the normal operation of the country's six major oil refineries, including those owned by PTT Group and Bangchak Group.
The Thai government will continue to monitor these vital shipping routes closely to prevent any unexpected disruptions to the supply chain.
