Tinubu Tasks NLNG on Gas Flaring Conversion
Nigeria's President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged the management of Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) to maximize domestic utilization and convert gas flaring into economic benefits for the country.
Tinubu made this appeal during a meeting with members of the NLNG Board led by its Managing Director, Engineer Adeleye Falade. He expressed concern that gas reserves were being flared instead of being utilized for the benefit of Nigerians.
The President commended the team on maximizing and increasing the organization's capacity and ensuring a good return on investment. He assured them that he would do whatever is within his power to incentivize them to maximize the organization's potential for Nigerians' benefit.
NLNG has generated over $150 billion since inception, with shareholders receiving about $47 billion as dividends. The company is keen to inaugurate Train Seven, which will boost its capacity by 35 per cent and further increase its current capacity.
