Tinubu Urges NLNG to Harness Gas Flaring for Domestic Economic Growth
Nigeria's President Bola Tinubu has urged the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) to convert gas flaring into a domestic economic benefit. Speaking with the NLNG board in Abuja, Mr. Tinubu expressed concern over the country's inability to utilise domestic gas resources effectively.
The President commended the company for maximising its capacity and increasing revenue, but emphasized that efforts should be focused on reducing environmental liabilities and generating benefits for consumers at home.
NLNG's Chief Executive, Mr. Adeleye Falade, informed the President that the firm has generated over $150 billion since inception, with shareholders receiving about $47 billion as dividends, including Nigeria's 49% stake in the organisation.
