President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG) to prioritize domestic gas utilization and reduce gas flaring. The President emphasized that NLNG's efforts to grow international revenue must be balanced with the need to make gas more accessible and affordable for Nigerians.

Tinubu gave this charge during a meeting with the NLNG Board of Directors and Executive Leadership at the State House in Abuja on August 26. He noted that Nigeria's natural resources would have little economic value if they remained untapped or failed to improve citizens' lives.

The President specifically challenged NLNG to develop solutions for gas currently being flared, saying it creates environmental problems while wasting a potentially valuable economic resource. Tinubu wants this potential waste turned into an economic advantage.
