Tokayev Reappoints Agriculture Minister Amid Cabinet Reshuffle
Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev reappointed Aidarbek Saparov to lead the Ministry of Agriculture, a move that may reassure trade partners about grain exports. The appointment follows the president's dismissal of his government after the August legislative election, a constitutional ritual where every minister must be reconfirmed.
Saparov has been at the helm of agriculture since September 2023 and has a long career in the field, including stints as a livestock specialist and regional governor. Kazakhstan is one of the world's top ten wheat and flour exporters, with grain shipments moving through the Caspian and Middle Corridor to markets like East Africa.
The reappointment also confirmed Askarbek Yertayev at Labour and Social Protection, who has been in the role since January 2026. The move is part of a broader cabinet reshuffle, with Kanat Bozumbayev and Yerlan Sarsembayev also being reconfirmed.
