Tompolo's Tantita Cuts Oil Theft by 79%, Wins National Award

Tompolo's company, Tantita, has been credited with reducing oil theft in Nigeria by 79% since engaging in a pipeline surveillance contract worth N48 billion annually. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) hired Tantita in August 2022 to monitor export pipelines and report suspected illegal activity to security agencies.

Tompolo, also known as High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, was recently awarded the 'Guardian of the Nation' award at the African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) in Dallas, Texas. The award recognized his company's efforts to protect Nigeria's critical national assets and contribute to peace-building, job creation, and community development.

Nigeria's oil output has increased since Tantita began its contract, with crude production reaching 1,677,777 barrels per day in August 2026. This is enough to meet the country's OPEC quota of 1.5 million barrels daily for a fourth straight month.

Calls have been made to split Tantita's contract among multiple firms, but stakeholders and lawmakers have warned against this, citing concerns that fragmentation could weaken coordination and lead to inefficiencies.
