Torex Gold Resources (TSX:TXG) has been making waves in the Canadian mining sector after its Q2 2026 financial results revealed a strong cash flow and significant project developments. The company's shares rose 4.03% on August 14, 2026, as investors took notice of its solid production performance.

Torex reported producing 96,297 gold-equivalent ounces in Q2 2026, which is below the first-quarter level but still within its full-year guidance of 420,000-470,000 gold-equivalent ounces. The company's revenue reached approximately US$406.9 million, while free cash flow was around US$94.2 million.

The firm maintained its commitment to returning capital to shareholders through dividends and share repurchases, with a quarterly dividend payment of C$0.16 per share and the repurchase of approximately 991,000 shares at an average price of C$61.89.

One of the key catalysts for Torex's growth is its Media Luna North project, which is expected to deliver first ore before year-end 2026 and commercial production thereafter. This will not only provide additional production but also alter the company's metal mix, with silver and copper contributions becoming more significant from 2027 onward.

The Los Reyes Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) outlined an estimated after-tax net present value (NPV) of approximately US$1.49 billion and after-tax internal rate of return (IRR) of 37.3%. This project has the potential to become a major growth driver for Torex, with average annual production of around 161,000 gold-equivalent ounces during its first 11 years.

Torex is planning to invest approximately US$100-105 million in 2026 to bring Media Luna North into production, which will leverage existing infrastructure and potentially reduce development complexity. The company's exploration efforts are also underway, with 148,500 meters of drilling planned for 2026 across Mexico and the United States.
