TotalEnergies and Eni have made a final investment decision to develop the Cronos field off Cyprus, which is expected to produce approximately 2.8 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) per year.

The project will use existing infrastructure in Egypt to transport the gas to Europe, bypassing the need for a dedicated liquefaction chain during its first commercial phase.

TotalEnergies and Eni will share the project equally, with Eni acting as operator. The Cronos field is located about 185 kilometers southwest of the Cypriot coast.
