Trans Mountain Pipeline Runs Almost Full Amid Growth in Oil Exports
The Trans Mountain pipeline has been operating at almost full capacity since its expansion in 2024. The pipeline, which carries oil from Alberta to Vancouver, ran 94% full during the second quarter of this year.
Average daily usage was up to 840,000 barrels per day, a significant increase from the same period last year when it averaged 703,000 barrels per day.
This growth in pipeline use comes as Trans Mountain Corp., the Crown corporation operating the pipeline, reported net income of $138 million for the quarter. This is down from $150 million during the same time last year, but revenues rose to $808 million from $719 million.
