Transgaz Seeks Equity Stake in US LNG Terminal
Transgaz, Romania's national natural gas transmission system operator, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Argent LNG to explore a strategic equity investment. The MOU was signed by Transgaz CEO Ion Sterian and Argent LNG Chairman and CEO Jonathan Bass at Transgaz's headquarters in Bucharest.
The partnership aims to enable the transit of U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) through Romania to neighboring countries, including Moldova, Ukraine, Hungary, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Germany.
Transgaz has a distinctive position among Europe's gas infrastructure operators, being the fourth-largest natural gas transmission system operator in the European Union. The company operates national gas transmission systems in two countries, an EU member state and an EU accession candidate.
