Trinidad Wells Deliver as Expected Amid Rising Oil Prices
Touchstone Exploration's new wells in Trinidad and Tobago are producing oil as expected. The company has confirmed that its FR-1835 and FR-1836 development wells on the WD-8 block brought in combined production averaging about 175 barrels per day of medium-gravity crude oil. This is a significant milestone for the Canadian energy company, which funded the drilling programme through its strategic exchange of the Fyzabad asset in 2025.
The FR-1835 and FR-1836 wells are benefiting from strong global crude oil prices, according to Paul Baay, president and chief executive officer of Touchstone Exploration. The company is also preparing for higher natural gas pricing during a major maintenance shutdown at Atlantic LNG. During the outage period, gas volumes from its Central block will be redirected to Atlantic LNG Train 2/3 and the domestic market.
Touchstone's expansion work at its Cascadura facility on the Ortoire block is also progressing as scheduled. The company is installing a new booster compressor to lower wellhead back pressure, ease pipeline constraints, and improve production efficiency and facility reliability.
