Trump Admin Pledges Billions to Boost LNG Exports Amid Climate Concerns
The Trump administration has invested billions of dollars in natural gas exports through federal agencies, aiming to boost production and consumption. Since July 2025, these agencies have pledged more than $4 billion to prop up American liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects.
This unprecedented support comes as LNG growth reshapes the nation's energy and climate future. Exports are the fastest-growing source of demand for U.S. natural gas, driving a rise in drilling that has pushed production to a record high.
The expansion is expected to more than double by 2050, according to the Energy Information Administration, potentially pushing natural gas production 20-40% higher than today. However, this growth comes at a time when climate change impacts are becoming deadlier and more costly.
