Trump Announces Record-Breaking Deal for US Access to Venezuela's Oil Reserves
US President Donald Trump announced what he called 'THE BIGGEST OIL DEAL IN WORLD HISTORY', giving America access to Venezuela's vast oil reserves. The deal, negotiated by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, gives the US a stake in 17 untapped fields with a proven potential of 65 billion barrels.
Under the agreement, the US will get 55% effective output of the new private company, including an ownership stake and rights to buy oil at cost. The company would be given the rights to these fields for 100 years, with Venezuela retaining sovereignty over its resources.
The deal is expected to draw $100 billion in investment into Venezuela's oil industry and yield over $209 billion in taxes for Caracas. However, experts warn that it may take years and billions of dollars to repair the country's dilapidated oil infrastructure, making a substantial boost in production unlikely in the short term.
Venezuela's acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, described the deal as a step toward economic recovery and modernizing the country's oil industry. However, some critics have called it 'shameful' and warn that Venezuelans will not respect this illegitimate deal.
