Trump Blames Iran for Saudi Oil Pipeline Attack, Boasts About Strait of Hormuz Control

US President Donald Trump has pointed to Iran as likely responsible for an attack on a critical Saudi oil pipeline, which was temporarily closed following a drone strike.

The East West pipeline, a 745-mile route that handles up to 5% of the world's oil supply, was attacked on Friday, with the Houthis claiming responsibility. However, Trump suggested Iran may have been involved in the attack.

When asked about the incident, Trump stated 'I think they are probably responsible,' but also noted that 'the Houthis called us and they don't want to fight with us.' He added that 'they would much prefer not having us involved.'

Trump then boasted about the US's control over the Strait of Hormuz, claiming 'we really very powerfully controlled' it. He stated that the US has a naval blockade in place, which he described as 'so incredible,' and noted that this has helped keep oil prices down.

The president also mentioned that 25 boats are taken out by the US daily, mostly at night. This, he claimed, has kept oil prices from being much higher.
