Trump Demands Oil Companies Lower Pump Prices Amid Record Profits

US President Donald Trump has urged major oil companies to lower retail fuel prices for American consumers. In a Truth Social post, Trump praised Chevron's performance but called on the company and others to reduce pump prices.

The request comes after Chevron reported a record quarterly net profit of $12.1 billion, fueled by global supply disruptions triggered by the Iran war. Chevron CEO Mike Wirth noted that escalating tensions with Iran and Houthi strikes on Saudi energy infrastructure have heightened the risk of another disruption to global oil shipments.

Wirth told Fox News on Sunday that 'some of the challenges have expanded, and the risks to supply are very real,' mentioning the Strait of Hormuz, Red Sea, and Black Sea as areas with increased risks. Trump's call for lower prices is likely aimed at addressing concerns over rising fuel costs and their impact on American consumers.
