However, the situation in Iran is far more complex, with a prolonged conflict involving much of the Middle East. Despite Trump's remarks, Iran and its regional allies have not shown signs of backing down, with Houthi forces in Yemen taking control of the port city of Mokha.
The strategic significance of Mokha lies in its location along the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, which could be used to put pressure on Saudi Arabian oil shipments. Trump's comments come as the US faces sky-high prices for diesel, with an average price of $6.23 per gallon, up from $3.69 last year at this time.
