Trump Floats Staying in Iran to Secure Oil Reserves

US President Donald Trump made comments about the ongoing conflict in Iran, suggesting that the US could 'stay in Iran' and 'keep the oil', mirroring a previous effort to take control of Venezuela's oil reserves.

In a recent trip to Ireland, Trump told reporters that gasoline prices would 'drop like a rock' once the Iran war ended.

He also expressed his expectation that the conflict would end this year, possibly after the US midterm elections in November, as oil markets remain unsettled by turmoil in the Middle East.

The comments came as the Strait of Hormuz was set to be discussed at a meeting in Oman, where Iran and Gulf countries will discuss security cooperation.
