Trump Hints at Keystone XL Pipeline Revival with Pro-Energy Rhetoric
President Trump has hinted at reviving the Keystone XL pipeline project in a pair of Truth Social posts. The project, which was proposed back in 2008 and would have carried 830,000 barrels of crude oil per day from Alberta's tar sands to refineries in the US, was paused under former President Joe Biden. Trump's posts included an A.I.-generated image showing him wrenching a Keystone XL pipe straight out of a grave, with a tombstone reading 'Buried by Biden' in the background.
Trump wrote on Truth Social that the project may be 'awoken from the grave', referencing his predecessor's decision to revoke a permit needed for the pipeline. The president has previously called for the revival of the project and praised it as an example of 'Energy. Jobs. America First.'
The Keystone XL extension would have spanned 1,947 kilometers from Alberta to Nebraska and was a point of contention due to environmental concerns about oil spills and potential threats to indigenous land and water safety.
