Trump Meets Oil Executives Amid Rising Gas Prices
US President Donald Trump met with oil industry leaders at the White House to discuss ways to lower rising gas prices. The national average price of gasoline has remained above $4 per gallon, prompting concerns about the impact on consumers and the economy.
The meeting focused on increasing domestic refining capacity and expanding operations in Venezuela. Chevron, the second-largest US oil company, plans to expand its presence in the country as part of a broader push to boost Venezuelan oil production. The administration sees this as a key strategy to increase oil output amid rising gas prices.
As part of this effort, North American Blue Energy Partners has been granted 100-year concessions to 17 oil fields in Venezuela. The Pentagon's Office of Strategic Capital will receive a 35% equity stake in NABEP's corporate parent, while the State Department will have the right to purchase 20% of the company's output at production cost.
