Trump Orders Iran Strikes, Brent Crude Surges Above $96 Amid Middle East Tensions
President Donald Trump ordered fresh US strikes on Iranian targets in response to Tehran's retaliation against American positions across the Middle East. The move sent Brent crude prices surging above $96 a barrel amid renewed fears over the Strait of Hormuz.
The US military targeted Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) sites, including air-defense systems and communications facilities. This followed recent attempted attacks by the IRGC against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and American service members.
Tehran responded with missile and drone attacks targeting US forces in Jordan, Bahrain, and Iraq. Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf warned that 'if the enemy wants us not to export oil from the Persian Gulf, no one will be able to export oil.'
