US President Donald Trump has ordered the US military to shoot and kill Iranian small boats that are allegedly placing mines in the Strait of Hormuz. In a social media post, Mr. Trump stated that he has instructed the United States Navy to take decisive action against any boat attempting to sabotage the waterway.

The move comes as tensions between the US and Iran continue to escalate. The US military has also seized another tanker associated with the smuggling of Iranian oil, which was bound for Zhoushan, China. A Pentagon statement emphasized that the US will continue to disrupt illicit networks and interdict vessels providing material support to Iran.

The seizure is a response to a series of incidents in the Strait of Hormuz, including an attack by Iran on three cargo ships, capturing two of them. Mr. Trump had extended a ceasefire while maintaining an American blockade of Iranian ports just yesterday.
