Trump Points Finger at Iran in Saudi Pipeline Attack
US President Donald Trump has pointed to Iran as 'probably' responsible for an attack on Saudi Arabia's East-West Pipeline, which resulted in the pipeline's closure. The incident occurred when several drones, allegedly coming from Iraq, targeted the pipeline on Thursday, causing injuries and some damage.
The pipeline was shut down as a precautionary measure due to the attack, which has sparked fresh concerns for Saudi Arabia's oil resources and export capabilities. Trump made the comment while visiting Ireland, where he had held a call with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman earlier in the day.
Trump stated that he believed Iran was behind the attack, but declined to strike against the Houthis when urged to do so by the Saudi Crown Prince. The incident marks another blow to the Saudi government, following the capture of strategic points along the Red Sea by the Iran-backed Houthis.
