US President Donald Trump posted an AI-generated video on his Truth Social platform claiming that Iran's oil hub Kharg Island was being destroyed. The video showed dramatic explosions, but it is unclear if this was a genuine attack or just a threat.

Hamid Bovard, CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company, denied that operations at Kharg had been stopped, saying they were 'laughable' and conditions on the island were calm. He noted that oil workers had not allowed operations to stop even for a moment, despite being bombed repeatedly by US and Israeli forces in the past.

The video was likely created using software that detects AI-manipulated imagery. Attacking Kharg would severely disrupt Iran's energy trade and put huge pressure on its economy.
