Trump Posts Fake Video of Kharg Island Destruction
US President Donald Trump has sparked controversy by publishing a video on his social media platform Truth Social that simulates the destruction of Kharg Island, Iran's main oil export center. The video, created using artificial intelligence, shows large explosions and devastation on the island.
The images were identified as synthetically generated content, and Iranian authorities responded to the publication, calling Trump's messages 'ridiculous'. Hamid Bovard, head of the state-owned National Iranian Oil Company, assured that the situation on the island remains 'calm and normal', with oil operations continuing.
The US had previously attacked military targets on Kharg Island in March but claimed to have preserved its oil facilities. Trump has been threatening to strike the island for months, which would have severe consequences for Iran's economy.
