Trump Predicts War With Iran Will End After Midterms, Oil Prices to Plummet
President Donald Trump announced that the seven-month-old war with Iran will end immediately after the November midterm elections. He made this statement while addressing reporters at Joint Base Andrews before departing for a Republican campaign event in Dallas, Texas.
The President claimed that Iran is desperately trying to influence the outcome of US elections and will not be able to hold out much longer. If Republicans lose their congressional majority, it would create a more favorable environment for Iran and could ultimately allow it to acquire nuclear weapons, according to Trump.
Regarding soaring gasoline prices, Trump stated that this is a burden Americans must bear to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. He predicted that 'oil prices will plummet as soon as the midterms are over,' forecasting gasoline prices would fall below $2 a gallon.
However, energy markets are pointing in the opposite direction of his optimistic outlook, with Brent crude settling at $101.21 a barrel and U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) closing at $96.05 a barrel.
