President Donald Trump has reignited his administration's ongoing energy dispute with California in a post on Truth Social. He highlighted an executive order from March that aimed to restart oil operations tied to the Sable Pipeline and significantly expand offshore oil production off California's coast.

The White House graphic posted by Trump noted Energy Secretary Chris Wright would issue an order resulting in the 'immediate production of 50,000 barrels of oil per day,' which would increase offshore oil production in California by 550 percent. The post also stated that the pipeline would produce '20 million barrels of oil equivalent per year' to meet urgent Department of Defense requirements for 50 military installations on the West Coast.

California Governor Gavin Newsom's office directed Newsweek to previous press releases from the governor, who had dismissed reports of a Trump plan to expand drilling off California's coast as 'dead on arrival in California.' The state would 'absolutely' challenge the plan in court if finalized, according to Newsom.
