Trump Seals 'Biggest Oil Deal in World History' with Venezuela
President Donald Trump has finalized a massive oil deal in Venezuela, securing an unprecedented American foothold in the country's vast oil fields. The agreement gives the United States economic ownership, governance rights, and preferential access to tens of billions of barrels of crude.
The White House claims this is the 'biggest oil deal in world history.' Under the terms of the agreement, North American Blue Energy Partners received 100-year concessions covering 17 Venezuelan oil fields containing approximately 65 billion barrels of proven reserves. In return, the U.S. government receives a 35 percent equity stake in NABEP's corporate parent at no taxpayer cost.
America also gains the right to purchase 20 percent of production at cost and first refusal on the remaining 80 percent. A majority of NABEP's board must be American citizens, and Washington holds veto power over board appointments. The company plans up to $100 billion in privately financed infrastructure investment to revive fields crippled by decades of socialist mismanagement.
China and Russia previously controlled some of these oil fields through various means, but Trump's deal replaces foreign influence with a U.S.-led structure governed under American law and subject to American auditing. The White House projects that millions of barrels of new Venezuelan production will ultimately move through American refineries using American equipment and infrastructure, generating billions in investment and thousands of jobs.
