Trump Secures 65 Billion Barrels of Venezuelan Oil for US Reserves
President Donald Trump announced that Venezuelan oil will be used to replenish the United States' Strategic Petroleum Reserves. The move comes after a historic deal was made with Venezuela, which has the largest oil reserves in the world.
The U.S. assumed control of Venezuela's oil industry after a military operation in January that saw dictator Nicolas Maduro captured by U.S. forces and brought to the U.S. Trump stated that over 65 billion barrels of proven oil reserves will be secured through this deal, at no cost to American taxpayers.
Trump has blamed former President Joe Biden for the depleted Strategic Petroleum Reserve, which hit its lowest level in 44 years two weeks ago due to releases of crude oil to stabilize prices. Trump claims that this new deal will greatly increase America's oil supply and substantially lower gas prices long into the future.
